AERODYNAMICS

Aero Truck SA (Pty) Ltd  was established in 1986. Over the past thirty five years the company has pioneered and led the development and use of aerodynamics across the South African trucking industry.

Their well-engineered quality wind management Aerodynamic systems, consisting of options ranging from an integral roof mounted unit, added sides and skirts to boat-tails are all designed and manufactured by Aero Truck. These highly specialised products are the result of many years’ experience with the unique needs of the South African market, where height and width regulations differ considerably from those of overseas trucks.

Aero Truck’s development team works in close collaboration with major OEMs to ensure that each product meets the manufacturer’s requirements. Because of this their products are both aerodynamically effective as well as aesthetically pleasing and fully meet the needs of their customers (be they dealerships or individual transporters). Prior to Covid-19 attendance at local and international Transport Exhibitions was mandatory for management and senior members of our design team in order that they maintained awareness of the latest trends in the industry. We look forward to being able to resume our visits once travel restrictions are lifted.

Whilst they do make a vehicle look pleasing there is no doubt that the main reason hauliers fit aerodynamics is for the fuel savings. A well designed wind deflector unit can result in savings of anything from 8 – 12% on a long distance vehicle’s fuel usage. With today’s prices this is a major consideration for any transport operator.

From their manufacturing plant on the East Rand as well as from their East London, PE, Durban and Cape Town coastal and their Nelspruit branches Aero Truck supplies and fits aerodynamic to truck plants and dealerships, transporters and logistics companies and owner-operators countrywide. As a result of their nation-wide awareness campaign, which reinforces the benefits of aerodynamics for both fuel and CO2 savings, most hauliers are now aware of the importance of fitting wind management systems to their high cube vehicles.

In terms of new development work a lot of this has recently centred around the concept of reducing the industry’s carbon footprint. Innovations include the Barloworld Green Truck initiative, MAN’s Efficient Line project as well as Bakers Transport’s Advanced Aerodynamics venture.

In addition to their aerodynamics offerings Aero Truck has over the last 6 years added a range of sturdy Bullbars  for trucks. If you want more protection than a ‘bling bar’ we suggest you look at the range of products shown under the Bull Bar section on the site.

Included in their products are sleeper cabswindscreen and headlight protection grillsaerodynamic customising among others.

On the service side the company has added Manufacture and Repairs to tarpaulins/Taughtliners (which now includes a speedy Emergency Call–Out service). This represents a fast growing area for the business.

Proof of the company’s confidence in the robustness of their products is demonstrated by the fact that all units carry a two year warranty against manufacturing defects. As a company Aero Truck is very aware of the importance of providing excellent customer service levels both before and after fitment.

Aero Truck products are all locally designed and manufactured and offer a high quality, strong, cost effective and durable alternative to imports. A further advantage is that replacement parts are readily available.

In terms of new development work much of this is now centred around the importance reducing the industry’s carbon footprint. Innovations and road testing have been done in collaboration with Barloworld Green Truck, MAN’s Efficient Line test as well as Bakers Transport’s Advanced Aerodynamics venture. Aerotruck participated in several of the annual ‘Focus Truck Tests’ which highlighted the fuel economies aerodynamics can achieve.

On-going testing and collaboration with manufacturers and key industry players and reinforced Aerotruck’s belief in the importance of providing their customers with the most efficient fuel saving products, which are at the same time, also aesthetically pleasing.

If you take a look at the ‘What Our Customers Say about us’ section at the end of this page this will give you a better idea of how others view the level of service we take pride in providing.

LATEST NEWS FROM AERO TRUCK

Recent aerodynamic developments – Aero Tails

On the service side the company has added Manufacture and Repairs to tarpaulins/Taughtliners (which now includes a speedy Emergency Call–Out services). This represents a fast growing area for the business.

Test results in collaboration with manufacturers & fleet owners

On-going testing and collaboration with manufacturers and key industry players is very much a part of Aero Truck’s belief in the importance of providing their customers with the most cost effective (and effective) products to meet their needs.

‘Loadlock’ cab & load Security Systems

Proof of the company’s confidence in the robustness of their products is demonstrated by the fact that all units carry a two year warranty against manufacturing defects. As a company Aero Truck is very aware of the importance of providing excellent customer service levels both before and after fitment.

LoadLock is an exciting addition to our offering arriving from our sister company ‘Aero Tarp’ . This is a highly effective Anti Slash-and-Grab system designed for, and easily fitted to, all curtain-siders. This is the answer to both opportunistic and organised theft of loads and gives a high degree of protection making your fleet a little less interest to thieves. The video clip under the Tarp Security section gives a good idea of how LoadLock acts to protect the cargo
